My name is Dennis Kelley and I have been collecting law enforcement patches since 1992.  It all started when I was a freshman at Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) in San Marcos, TX.  I was sitting in a Criminal Justice class when several representatives from the San Marcos Police Department arrived.  They told us about their new police department facility and were recruiting dispatchers.  I thought...maybe this would be a fun job to have while taking college classes.  I applied for the dispatcher position and was hired several weeks later.  I remember walking into the police department for the first time and seeing a collection of police patches mounted on the wall.  It was so interesting seeing patches from cities and counties across the State of Texas.  That was the beginning of a new hobby for me.

I worked with the San Marcos, Texas Police Department until moving to San Antonio in 1993.  I continued my college path at San Antonio College after being hired as a dispatcher with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.  I was about to turn 21 years old and was anxious to become a police officer.  So, it was time for the police academy in which I graduated in December 1994.

In 1995, I was looking for a police officer position in the San Antonio area.  I was hired by the Alamo Heights, Texas Police Department where I rose through the ranks and retired as a Police Commander.  I obtained an Associate degree from San Antonio College in 2003 and continued on to earn a Bachelor degree from Texas State University in 2005.  I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management. I was formerly assigned to the entry team on the Randolph Area Metro S.W.A.T. team.  I hold a Master Peace Officer license and am a graduate of the Leadership Command College (Class 63) - Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas. In 2014, I graduated from the 258th Session of the F.B.I. National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

My hobbies also include computers, web design, mountain biking, and photography.  I am willing to trade my department patch with anybody who appreciates the hobby.  If you are interested in trading patches, please e-mail me.  All of the patches that I have for trade are very nice for your collection.  Enjoy your visit!
